Morning all, 11 weeks on and we are at the final weekend of the inaugural Joe McKeever Spring League Trophy. I think we would all agree that it has been a success and other than a few tweaks this format may with us for a few years.
Now to Business. Joe Donohoe’s (8) magnificent early season form sees him sit top of the standings 10 points ahead of Mark Williams (25) in 2nd spot who in turn is just 3pts ahead of Michael Cullen (15) in 3rd. Alan Doolan (7) played himself into 4th spot a fortnight ago with what was only his 4th card and with a 30 pt card to drop Alan looks in pole position to capture the Cat 1 honors. Cormac Noone lies in 5th spot on the same 148pts mark as Alan needs and to have at least 36 pts or better and hope Alan scores below 30.
Remember folks its the best last counting card that decides in the event of a tie.
Sean Farrell (5) is In 6th spot 1 point adrift of Alan and Cormac and needs to drop a 36 in the final week. Clive Cullen lies in 7th spot and 2nd in Cat 3 (although 10pts behind Mark Williams).Danny Lynch (25) and 9th overall is only 2pts behind Clive, Danny is looking to drop a 34 at the weekend with Clive looking at discarding a 35. In Cat 2 it looks that Michael Cullen has things wrapped up with 155pts, a 10 point lead on Liam Crosbie in 2nd. Rumor has it that Liam might not make up to play it this weekend possibly leaving the door open for Ray Murphy (15) in 10th overall to catch Liam and take the runners up spot in cat 2, Ray needs to drop a 33. Good look everyone.
