This years scratch cups really were a tale of 2 different days weather wise  with Saturday being wet and miserable and the Sunday a much better day. We had a record entry on the timesheet judging by the Friday night but Saturdays rain did knock off a number of competitors. The junior cup was won by Shane Kelly (4) from Grange Castle with a winning score of 73. Shane’s round was actually being updated hole by hole almost by one of his playing partners onto the committee’s What app page as the course record looked a distinct possibility for Shane as he traversed the front 9 in level par. In the end the blessed 9 kept her par intact for another day. Shane’s also shot 36 pts with a scratch last week folks, always pays to play the course before an events like these.. In 2nd spot came Alan Doolan (7) with a 77, not another bag Al you will be glad to know.. The best nett went to the clubs lowest handicap golfer at present Niall O Connor (4) with a 73 nett.

This years Intermediate Scr cup went to Donie McEvoy (10) who finished with a very impressive 80 gross some 4 shots better than last year’s winning mark. In 2nd spot came Adam Feighry (12) who had an 82 gross. Great to see Steve Cooling (13) return to the podium as the winner of the best nett score 73.

The minor cup went to a man in a rich vein of form at present the irrepressible Brendan Wheatley (20) with a 97 which was just good enough to win on the count back from Mark Williams (21). A big well done to Glenn Farrel who i think i am right in saying broke his duck in winning the best nett on a mark of 75. Well done gents. Weather forecast is good for next week gents, don’t forget our 9 hole autumn league where you can re enter as many times as you wish each separate week. Mid week open as usual and we have another open singles for all you visiting golfers who fancy havin another pop at the Blessed Nine.
