A good turnout gathered expectantly for our end of year shotgun start scramble event. “Oh please let us be off on the first” was a sentiment heard a number of times prior to the draw being made. Names were called out, teams were formed, starting holes were allocated and away we went. Conditions were tough with the wind blowing hard into to you, behind you and across you thus making club selection somewhat akin to honors Maths. In the end and very very eventually the team of Diarmuid Mc Carthy, Tony Hanlon, Kitty Darby and Dennis Hennessy arrived back at the clubhouse, (was it even still bright) with the winning score 60.2 to take first spot from the team of Richard L Kelly, Stephen Peake, Pat Reid and Nick Mc Hardy. Well done to both teams.
Next Sunday sees us having our (nearly a tradition at this stage) 18 hole par 3 Challenge, sounds innocent enough but i have it on good authority that you will need every club in the bag. The plan is to meet at 9 45 am with a shotgun start at 10 am if this changes an update will be posted here on the website. The spring league will then start either the following week or week after. As soon as the commencement date is set full details of the league will be available here on the site, oh and worth bearing in mind for those looking for a quick start in the 2020 GOY, the spring league has lots of valuable points on offer.
