Presidents Prize – Saturday & Sunday 20th & 21st August.
What a wonderfully enjoyable weekend we had at Blessington Lakes for the Presidents Prize. The competitions kicked off on Wednesday 17th with the Presidents Shootout. This is a fun 9-hole competition and this year it was very generously sponsored by our member Eugene O’Carroll of Derwent Lodge, Clontarf. After the knockout stage, seven members contested the Shootout. A display of pitching & putting followed until we had a final two players – all Ray Murphy and Jamie Tutty. In almost complete darkness Ray was declared the winner.
Saturday was competition day for our Pay & Play members. Despite very windy conditions, there was great scoring. In the end John Woods with a score of 40 points was the winner. John Coyle in 2nd place on 39 points and Kamil Kosakowski in third with 38 points.
Sunday saw a beautiful sunny day for our Full Members prize. First out were Vincent Chapman & Darach Nugent . The ladies set off in the afternoon followed by the Get into Golf Ladies. The first man on the tee box, Vincent Chapman returned a score of 39 points and led from the start. Vincent is a very loyal member of the club for many years and this is his very first Presidents prize win. Huge congratulations to a gentleman. In second place was Ross O’Duffy and gross prize to Jamie Tutty.
The lady’s winner was another very popular member and our Vice Captain, Marion Hanlon. Coincidentally Marian also returned a score of 39 points. Second was Caoimhe Flood and gross went to Lady Captain, Aisling O’Connor.
