Pat McEnroy (19) parred his way to victory over the large field of competitors in last weekend’s open 23rd/24th April. Pat had 10 pars in his round which left him signing for a brilliant score of 41 pts. Pat had 2 pts to spare over Dave Keating (12) who finished with 39 pts. Dave actually beat Graham Philip (22) on the count back after Graham also signed for a score of 39 pts. In 4th spot just a point behind was Said Hadjami with 38pts, good to see Said running into some good form as he should be a nailed on starter in our Pierce Purcell team who will be out on June 11th in Tulfarris. Great to see the time sheets so full on both days and with the provincial towns team in action there was a great buzz about the place. It was unfortunate that the greens had to be aerated but this is a vital annual process seen at all good golf clubs, we will see the benefit of this work in the weeks to come. 21 birdies were recorded but i also noticed going through the scores that Paul Culligan (8) notched up an eagle 3 on the 8th hole, well done Paul (Barton Cup manager please note). Open week starts this coming bank holiday Monday so lets all invite the world down to play the “Blessed Lakes”
