Blessington Lakes Golf Club

25 Years 1998 to 2023

Open singles comps Sat 23rd and Sun 24th April

Morning folks some rain in the air this morning no harm as the course could really use a drop. Last weekend saw the club running 2 distinct and separate opens. This seems to have worked out well with 2 good fields and a chance for those of us lucky enough to play competitively over 18 holes a 2nd time. Results from Sat 23rd saw Mark Fallon (16) win with very impressive score of 40 pts. Well done Mark and welcome to the Blessed 9. In 2nd spot on 38 pts we had John Greene (25), nice to see John back on the podium and there is a medal in this lad this year folks. No Birdies yet again the course has been a little cranky and reluctant in giving up deuces recently. In Sundays comp on the 24th We had Fred Smith (26) on 40 pts top of the pile when all the cards were checked. In 2nd was Darrach Nugent (13) on 36 pts. Darrach actually was placed 2nd on a countback with Terry Allen (17) also returning 36 pts. One deuce folks she gave up one eventually to Eddie Ingram. Well done Eddie. Now listen here people we played the par 3s 284 times competitively over the weekend and got one birdie between us so we have put a sign up at the entrance to the course to remind members to bring their putters before they commence play. Best of Luck to Dave and Niall Callaghan’s Jimmy Bruen team who will be taking on New Forest this Sunday afternoon, bring yisser putters lads.
