Blessington Lakes Golf Club

25 Years 1998 to 2023

News bits and pieces

This coming Sunday Jan 12th sees the club hosting a Scramble and as in previous weeks it will be a shotgun start. Can all intending members planning to play please put their names on the BRS system, just to gauge numbers folks. The number of holes to be played will be decided that morning, weather and all that. Members intending to play in the four-ball match play section of the Joe Mc keever Spring League should register their participation using the BRS. The draw for partners will take place on Sunday Jan 19th. The four-ball competition will run in congruence with the Singles component of the Spring League, (love that word congruence) “is that not when two rivers meet”?…”eh no that’s confluence”. The Spring League will then start on Sunday Jan 26th. The week prior, Sunday the 19th there will be a singles competition.

This years first committee meeting takes place on Tuesday Jan 14th. Speaking to members of the committee this week the sense of optimism and hunger to drive the club forward was very much in evidence. Also ran into Head green keeper Tom Kavanagh but speaking to him was difficult as he was drooling pictures of Greens Mowers, 2nd Cut Mowers, Bowsers …what???? Water Tanks apparently, Tractors etc. Make sure you get receipts Tom.

Finally a number of new full members have joined the club this week and on behalf the Captain, Officers of the club and all of us existing members welcome, enjoy and get your names down on the Inter-club panel lists as soon as they are up on the noticeboards. And on the topic of Inter-club do you think you have got what it takes to manage an Inter-club golf team and are interested let us know, Jim Galvin already has his name down, more time this year apparently.
