Mairead Hackett (36) returned the leading ladies score of 36 pts at the weekend 4th/5th June to claim this years Theresa Murphy trophy, Mairead does great work on behalf of all of us in both clubs (really should be 1 club but thats another days work) and i for one am delighted that she has claimed one of the more prestigious prizes played for here in BLGC. Eddie Kelly (10) made a welcome return to the winners enclosure taking 1st spot in the men’s prizes with a fantastic score of 41 pts.Surely Eddie has forced his way onto the Jimmy Bruen Panel after such a brilliant performance. 2nd spot in the men’s section went to Paul Dowd (12) with a score of 37pts. Paul has been there or thereabouts quite a lot recently and must also come into the reckoning for the Jimmy Bruen to be played on Sat 17th at Lisheen. The course only allowed 9 birdies over the 2 days just shows how tricky it is to hold those hard greens. Congrats again Mairead.
