Afternoon Lakesiders, so we are finally getting into the thick of it now on the Interclub front. Its been a mixed bag so far with the mens Jimmy Bruen and Barton Cup teams going out in tightly fought matches against Kileen GC and are old friends from 7 fields away Tulfarris GC respectively. Blessington had a great win in the Mixed Foursomes v Baltinglass. After losing 2 matches away early our home pairings won out in 2 closely fought matches to level the tie. Playoff responsibilities then fell to Diarmuid McCarthy and Helen Farrell and after halving the 19th they closed the match out on the 20th in getting up and down from just off the green. Sunday just gone also saw our Ladies emerge with a 3 2 victory in the Carton Cup over Athy GC in tough conditions. This is a 2 legged affair but great to take a lead down to South Kildare. Next up on the Interclub front are the ladies who play their 2nd round match v Craddockstown GC on Saturday June 1st at 2pm. On Sunday the 2nd our men take on Beech Park in the Duggan Cup with this match being fixed for 2 pm. On Monday June 3rd our mixed foursomes take on Carlow GC. Good luck to all representing the Blessed Nine and folks if you need drama in your lives watching interclub matches beats Netflix every time. And as for playing interclub well it aint “a piece of cake” .
