We had a good turnout today for what was a somewhat hastily arranged end of year open singles. An excellent return of 40 points was good enough for Gareth O Rourke (22) to win our last singles event of 2019. Gareth was the epitome of steadiness gathering points on all but one of the 18 holes. Congrats Gareth well done. In 2nd spot was Joe Donohoe (9). Joe knows our fairways well having played here numerous times as a member and visitor. Joe started his round in a steady if unspectacular fashion but when someone plays the last 10 holes of the blessed 9 in Par figures they are not going to be far off and in signing for 38 points Joe finished in 2nd spot. Well done Joe. In 3rd place came the indomitable Mr Brendan Flynn. Deliberate and Measured is how Brendan plays his golf and is always one to watch any time he competes. Brendan playing off 7 returned 37 points to take 3rd place a couple of points ahead of Ger Murray who finished 4th. On Sunday the 29th we will be again meeting at 9 45 am for a shotgun start. Scramble i believe will be the name of the game. The weather forecast looks reasonable so no excuses folks.
