Details for Captain’s Prize 2017

Its that time of year again – Sunday 3rd September we will have our Captains Prize Qualifying Round. The time sheet goes live on Friday 25th August at 8:00am. You can put your name down by using the online booking system.

Please note for any player who has exceptional circumstances which prevent him from playing in the Sunday qualfier on the 3rd September there is a limited number of tee times available on Saturday the 2nd September. To avail of a Saturday tee time for the qualifier a request must be made first by phoning Dave Callaghan on 087 6532158 on or before Sunday 27th August 2017. Once a request is made a tee time may be granted after consideration by the Captain. No requests will be accepted after the deadline of 27th August 2017.

The top 32 players will qualify for the Captain’s Final on Saturday the 9th September with the leading players going out in reverse order from 12.00pm, with the leaders going out at approximately 1.30pm.

After the Golf on the 9th September at 7.30pm we will be having a meal in Avon Ri, Blessington. The Prize Giving will follow the meal and then we will finish the night off with live music till late. Tickets are priced at €35 per person or €60 per couple and can be obtained from Dave Callaghan 087 6532158, please book early as the numbers are limited and we need agree final numbers with Avon Ri a week in advance. Accommodation is available directly with Avon Ri, please contact them to book (045) 900 670 This is very limited so book early to avoid disappointment.


Sunday 3rd September

Captains Qualifier 18 hole stroke from blue markers. Entry Fee is €20 which will cover both days and the two’s club. The twos club will only run on the day of the qualifier. The top 32 players will qualify for the 18 hole final on Saturday the 9th September. The top 3 gross will also qualify regardless of the nett finish. For those who don’t qualify they can enter the Captain’s Plate on the morning of the final between 8:00am-9:00am. To be eligible to win Captain’s Prize you must have either returned 3 singles cards in Blessington Lakes in 2017 or have represented the Club at interclub level in 2017. As agreed at our AGM 2009 Juveniles are only eligible to participate in the Men’s Captain’s Prize providing they have achieved a GUI handicap of 18 or lower. If juveniles have not they may participate by playing off 18 on the day.

Wednesday 6th September

We will have our Traditional Captain’s Shoot Out, Ladies and Gents (Full members) are welcome to play in this fun event, registration from 5pm, tee off at 6pm. Call the club house if you are running late and we will put your name in the draw.

Saturday 9th September

8:00am-9:00am Captain’s Plate for non-qualifiers 18 hole stableford played from white tees.
9:00am-10:00am Ladies Captain’s Prize
12.00pm-1.30pm Captain’s Prize Final played over 18 holes Stroke from the blue markers, in the event of a tie the players tied at the top will play a sudden death play-off commencing on the 1st hole, the player lowest nett score on the hole will be eliminated until there is one winner.
