Vincent Chapman (10) produced some of his best golf this morning to overcome Niall O’Connor (5) in the 2015 Club Matchplay Final. Niall hit the front early on taking advantage of Vincent’s sluggish start. A par on the 1st was good enough to go 1 up and a bogey on the 2nd matched Vincent’s double. Vincent then hit top gear dropping only one more shot for the rest of the round. The 3rd was halved in pars but birdies from Vincent on the 4th and 5th put him in front for the first time in the match. Niall clawed a hole back with a birdie of his own on the 6th. The 7th & 8th were both halved with pars. A par on the 9th from Vincent meant that he took a 1 hole advantage into the back 9. From here Vincent parred 6 of the next 7 holes to win the match on the 16th 4 & 2 Vincent remarked the 16th was “a great hole” for him with him finishing a number of his matches at the long par 4.
Well done Vincent on a fantastic round of golf and congratulations becoming Club Champion for 2015.
