Blessington Lakes Golf Club and the Royal Curragh Golf Club were vying for the Cairde Cup over the past 2 weekends with the Curragh taking possession of the Cairde Cup trophy from BLGC for this year. There were 6 male pairings and 2 female pairings from each club taking each other on in a Fourball Matchplay format. The first leg was played in Blessington Lakes on Sunday 18th and the host club were 1 point behind going into the second leg at Royal Curragh on Sunday 25th…but BLGC didn’t improve on that standing and reluctantly, handed over the trophy to Team Manager Paul Hogan. The Entry Fee into the Cairde Cup covers all incidental costs including food, etc but the remaining funds are donated to charity. Both clubs are delighted to announce that the Cairde Cup raised €750 for Motor Neuron Disease.
