Yesterday evening the Ladies got the interclub season off with a fighting display full of guts and determination unluckily going down 3 and 2 to Athy Golf club in the Challenge cup. Yesterday evening also saw the mens all Ireland four ball team in action. We were up against in this folks with only 2 out of the five Matches at home. Both home pairings did us proud with Neill Larrigan/Pat McEnroy and Denniss Henessey/Conor Steed winning tight battles at home. We lost the first two matches away, however in the 3rd and as it turns out decisive match Ger Murray and Dennis Morris came through wining 1 up on the 18th. Absolute brilliant performance lads.
In this afternoons Jimmy Bruen Match the club were up against Moyvalley GC. Blessington had home advantage with 3 matches at home and in the end this was decisive…..just about. Both Blessington pairings went down fighting in very tight matches away. Winning an away point in Interclub games is really difficult folks. At Home the pairings of Diarmuid McCarthy/Derek Brogan and Jamie Tutty/Pat Reid won their games to even up the match. That left the pairing of Brendan Flynn/Pat Brady still playing after tying their match after the 18 holes. Brendan and Pat came from 4 down with four to go folks, thats some bottle gents . Off down the 1st again, halved, the 2nd halved, the 3rd halved, finally on the long 4th hole Blessington found themselves on the green in 2 with Moyvalley short of the green in 3 with Blessington duly closing out the match with some decent putting. Well done folks. Tomorrow evening sees the club playing in the Duggan cup v Castlewarden GC tee off at 4PM. No Pressure gents.
