Starting the weekend of the 6th/7th Feb the club will be running a weekly Golden Goals competition in order to fund-raise. Each weekend a cross channel football match will be picked, usually the Sunday 4pm live game on Sky. It is envisioned that this will be our staple fundraiser for the coming year. When the league is over in England we will then nominate a game from either the League of Ireland Premier Div or the Euro’s while they are on. The tickets will cost 2 euro’s each with 60 euro going to the holder of the correct minute and 20 euro’s to the holders of each minute directly before and after the winning minute. The minute of the 1st goal being scored shall be determined through the Irish Times Sports Results in Monday mornings edition which is also available free on line. If 0-0 is the wining ticket then the holders the tickets with the 1st minute and the 90th minute will win 20 euro. If the goal is scored in the 1st minute then the holders of the tickets with 0-0 and the 2nd minute will win 20 euro. If the winning goal is scored in 90th minute then the holders of the tickets with 0-0 and the 89th minute will win 20 euro. The minutes stop at 45 and 90 meaning goals scored in the 47th or 93rd minutes for example are deemed as 45 and 90 respectively, (those are ones to get people). Tickets will be available from committee members and at the Sunday morning competition sign in. Committee members need to ensure that any unsold minutes/tickets are available at the club early on Sunday mornings. This weeks nominated game is Manchester Utd v Chelsea. Holders of winning tickets should text the club phone with their name and number so that the prize envelopes can be made up and left at the bar with Betty. This initiative needs the support of everyone in the club as it will help give us the ability to make improvements around the club in the coming season.
