Consistency really does pay folks, just looking the final league table in the 2019 GOY you cant fail to notice that our two lowest marked players finished in the top two positions. In the twelve counting competitions for 2019 between them Niall O Conner and Diarmuid McCarthy only failed to collect points in 3 events. Respect gentlemen.
Blessington lakes may be unique in the manner in which it calculates its GOY event in that the competition runs throughout the twelve months of the year and includes the clubs Spring and Winter leagues. This in all likelihood means to win the Golfer of the Year accolade you need to be playing and scoring year round in all sorts of climate, (used to be called weather).
So Congratulations to our 2019 GOY Niall O Conner. Well done Niall.
With the ink barely dry on the spreadsheet, (that saying used to finish with paper) The 2020 GOY will commence in a few weeks time with the start of the Spring League. Niall and Captain Diarmuid will be favs again although i think both guys may have other distractions this year so you never know folks. Sure we will knock plenty of well-being out of trying, real buzzword that well-being. Happy New Year to all.
