27th March result Alan Doolin it again

On what was a weather curtailed event over the weekend with play being suspended on Saturday Alan Doolan (7) managed to stay under the wind on Sunday morning to compile a winning score of 37 pts. Alan went around our blessed links for the 2nd time in a fortnight in 78 blows, a quite ridiculously good score given the extremely windy conditions, indeed at times the wind was blowing the balls across some of the greens  Alan’s last 3 gross scores retrospectively are 78. 78 and  74.and he will be a vital part of this season’s  Barton cup adventure. The trio of Brendan Wheatley (21) Stephen Peake (20) and Brendan Flynn (7) all returned 35 pts with Brendan Wheatley taking the runners up spot on the C/B (count back). Just to underline the tough conditions the next best score returned was 32 pts by Dunlavin’s finest Stephen Carrol, another man that may well win a medal this year IMO. The field of 31 was not bad considering the gale and the Easter holiday celebrations The field scored 7 birdies over the course. Players that had to come off the course on Saturday when play was suspended will be refunded their entry and finally the golden goal football match is this week is Tuesday’s international friendly v Slovakia, the holder of the 0-0 ticket is a Glenn Hoddle.

Glen Hoddle…..rhyming slang for “model”…..model……more.likely to happen
