2021 Leinster Interclub draws “Interesting very interesting”

Well at last and a sign of slowly encroaching summer golf normality, so into the breech we go with Galloping glee and hope springing eternal. The draws brought the above famous sporting commentators quote to mind. Google it folks, Good aul franny lee and the perfect illustration why the proposed European Super League quickly floundered.

This years draws are courtesy of Golf Ireland and are in the new regionalised format detailed here previously and on the Golf Ireland website. Blessington Lakes being a mid leinster club are participating the Leinster Central section of the provincial draws. The general sentiment of interclub aficionados is that this is a good move in that it gives more clubs a chance of winning pennants as sectional winners along with provincial and all Ireland winners will be awarded pennants. So down to business

Ladies Minor Cup – home to the winners of Tulfarris V Borris to be played by June 27th.

Irish Mixed Foursomes – Bye in first rd, away to Tulfarris 2nd rd to be played by independence day, July 14th.

Barton Cup – Home to Tulfarris, to be played by June 26th.

So the regionalised draw sees us pitted us against our near neighbour’s and friends Tulfarris in 4 of the 7 interclub competitions, “That’s mad ted” and with so many of ushaving great pals there it will make for some interesting social media banter pre and post matches. Blessington Lakes have a good record in interclub and have always punched above their weight, the thoughts of taking on our neighbours of considerable means ………..well if that does not get your juices going and u must be brown bread.
