A very successful President’s Prize (Tony McGinley) to Pay and Play Members was held in Blessington Lakes Golf Club today. The course was in excellent condition and our members were delighted with their day. A big thank you to our Head Greenkeeper Tom for all his work and to those who help him prepare the course today including Nick and Tony. Our clubhouse staff, Julie, Vivi and Gráinne deserve great praise for all their hard work and professionalism. Thank you too to our officers, Maireád, Helen, Diarmuid and Cormac. You are exceptional people who have helped create an exceptional club. The scoring today reflected the excellent conditions. The winner was Anu Kuusiaho (48) who returned an excellent score of 46 points defying the difficult set up of the course. She was a model of consistency with two excellent nines of 23 points. She finished (pun intended) five points clear of the first man on the course this morning Anthony Doyle (15) who returned an excellent 41 points. Third with 40 points was the ever consistent Michael Billington (22), one of the most improved golfers in the club. Dave Hurley (24) was fourth with 39 points while Robert Nolan took the gross prize with 28 points. Thank you to all the golfers today who turned out in record numbers and created such an enjoyable atmosphere around the club.
