Congratulations to Brendan Flynn (7) who finished top of the pile in this years edition of the May Medal. Brendan played some very steady golf making his way round in 6 over par mixing 6 bogies with 12 pars which all added up to a 71 nett beating runner up “Steady Eddie” Seery (15) by one stroke. In third position with the best of the 73’s came Troy Cullen (14) who had the better back 9 ahead of Glen Farrell and Diarmuid McCarthy.
The gross prize went to Niall O’Connor who pipped Diarmuid McCarthy on countback for the second month running. Both players finished 7 over par for their rounds. Diarmuid was particularly unlucky getting a very unfortunate break on the 18th hole where his ball clipped a low lying twig from the tree in the middle of the 18th fairway somehow resulting in the ball staying in the tree and never to be seen again. It just wasn’t to be for Diarmuid today with the shaft in his 5 iron snapping in two on the very first hole causing a mild head in injury in the process!
