The Ladies Club golfing year has commenced.
Our first winner of the year was Rita Malone who won the 9 hole monthly competition with 18 points.
Our Winter League which is running for 7 weeks. Julie Walsh (18 pts) was the first weeks winner. Well done. It is up to everybody to catch her!!!
The AGM of the Ladies Club took place on the 3rd December. New officers were elected.
Helen Farrell won the August Medal.
Rita Malone won the 9 hole competition.
The Lady Captain’s Prize was won by Martina Searson, 2nd Mary McGee, Gross Breda Walsh, 3rd Kitty Feely.
Sally Callaghan won the July Medal.
Mairead Hackett won Theresa Murphy Trophy.
Rita Malone won the both the June Medal and the 9 hole competition.
Anne Kelly, one of the founding member of the ladies club passed away on 15th May. May she rest in peace. She will be sadly missed by all.
Mary McGee won the May Medal.
The 9 hole competition was won by Helen Farrell.
Angela Seery won the April Medal.
Every good wish to Lady Captain Dympna for tomorrow’s Drive In and every success for the coming year.
We wish Dympna the very best as she starts off her year as Lady Captain and also to Martin as Vice Lady Captain.
The Winter League competition has started. €5 to enter and re-entry is €3. Play anytime you like. This will run up to 20th March.
The AGM was held on Saturday December 5th. A great attendance. Thank you all for coming. A new Lady Captain Dympna Darby was appointed along with a new Committee which will be updated above after January 1st.
Thank you so much to outgoing Lady Captain Helen. She worked so hard all year and was an inspiration to all of us showing us how things should be done. Well done Helen.
Presentations were made for Golfer of the Year, Rings Competition and the Birdie Tree as well as the Hamper League. Golfer of the Year was Dympna Darby. Congratulations Dympna. You really deserved it after winning both the Lady President’s Prize and The Lady Captain’s during the year. Winner of the Rings was also Dympna. And Birdie Tree…. guess who… Yes Dympna again. The overall winner of the hamper League was, yes, Dympna Darby. We really will have to pull up our socks next year…!!
The AGM Hamper competition was cancelled on the day because of bad weather but was played as a multiple entry competition over 2 weeks. This concluded on Sat 19th and was won by Angela Seery. Well done Angela.. Another name that crops up a lot in the winners.

A very big thank you to Lady Captain Helen for organising a really enjoyable day out in Woodenbridge on Monday 2nd November. We had a great turnout; played in teams of 3 and everyone really enjoyed the golf. Also enjoyed a lovely dinner afterwards in Woodenbridge Hotel. Thanks again Helen. As usual the organisation was superb.
This week, Wednesday 14th, Saturday and Sunday 17th & 18th October is the last 18 hole competition of the season. Next week we start our Hamper competition. We will start playing 13 holes, reducing to 9 as weather dictates. Wednesday starting time will be 10 a.m. Competition will be over 7 weeks culmination on day of AGM – 5th December. Thank you so much Helen for a wonderful day. We had a great day’s golf and a really enjoyable evening in Avon Ri. We really appreciate the work both Paul and Helen put into the day and it paid off. Thanks again.

Congratulaions to Marion Hanlon who won the August medal on what has to be the score of the year……63 net. Marion lost 7 shots for her great score.
Well done too to Kitty Feeley who came second with a score of 73 net and to Sally Callaghan, third, with a score of 74 net.
Our July Medal was won by Breda Walsh (19) with a nett score of 75.
The Theresa Murphy Trophy was won by Martina Searson who was the overall winner.
The President’s Prize was won by Dympna Darby – nett 73. Second was Marion Hanlon. Gross was Julie Walshe. Third was Brid Shirran.
Our June Medal was won by Helen Farrell with a net score of 72.
Ladies’ first minor match in Tulfurris against Newbridge GC. Blessington won 3 matches and halved 2 matches. Well done. In the next round the Ladies’ Minor Team played New Ross in Mount Wolseley and lost 3 & 2.
The Boyne Trophy played against Edmonstown on Sunday 24th, and lost 5 & 0.
Our May Medal was won by Deirdre Keating with a net score of 71.
Our April Medal was won by Angela Seery with a net score of 73 – the first points for golfer of the year.
A very warm welcome to Teresa Blake and Marjorie Herbert – two new members – and a big welcome back to Noreen Wheatley, who has rejoined our club. We hope you really enjoy your golf in Blessington Lakes and we look forward to playing with you.
